Well, I got to that verse tonight. I knew it was coming, and I still wasn’t prepared for it. Ephesians 1:19-21.
…and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come.
Did you see that? Carey recently wrote about this on his site and I’ve been patiently waiting to discuss it too.
Paul isn’t praying that these believers would receive the power. He is saying that they already have it. They just need a reminder that it is available to them. They need the kick in the rear, 2×4 across the back of the head reminder that their not tapping into the power enough.
Let’s put this into perspective. Jesus died. He died a cruel death on the cross. There is no doubt left behind on this subject. His tortured and pierced corpse was placed in a cave with a very large stone rolled in front of the opening. 3 days later, God’s great power raised Jesus from the dead.
The same power that raised Jesus from the dead was given to me at the time of my salvation. It is available to me. This is why we have no excuse but to tell others about what He has done for us. We should be tapping into that power all the time.
Think about this as we progress through this passion week. Have you checked your IV recently?
