This morning I was running late. We were having technical issues in the production booth at church, I was trying to get the sermon notes prepared for the screens…
I did not have a run through with the worship team, so I decided to run through each slide by myself. I’m glad I did!
We have been doing some responsive reading (is that what you call it in the year 2010?) of verses at the beginning of services lately. Today, tucked in the middle of three passages of scripture was supposed to be Psalms 106:47-48 which reads:
Save us, O LORD our God, and gather us from among the heathen, to give thanks unto thy holy name, and to triumph in thy praise. Blessed be the LORD God of Israel from everlasting to everlasting: and let all the people say, Amen. Praise ye the LORD.
Yes, it was KJV. That’s not the bad part. Instead, in my haste, I had loaded Psalms 106:28-29 into Media Shout… Which reads:
They yoked themselves to the Baal of Peor
and ate sacrifices offered to lifeless gods;
They provoked the LORD to anger by their wicked deeds,
and a plague broke out among them.
Wow. That sure would have set the tone for the service differently.
A reminder for all of us to check and recheck our work.
