This post is officially my 400th published blog posting. That is nothing compared to some of you out there, but to me, I’m quite pleased to make it to this milestone.

When you think of the number 400, what do you think of? Here are a few that come to mind.

  • 400 batting average in baseball. Will we see one again? Jay?
  • I understand that the KJV is going to be 400 years old next year. Should I dust mine off and use it in 2011
  • Atari had a 400 and an 800 that were internally named “Candy” and “Colleen” after two apparently attractive Atari secretaries.
  • 2o squared
  • HTTP status code for a bad client request.
  • The worst road in Atlanta, that has been paid for multiple times over thanks to the toll plaza in Buckhead.

  1. Andy, to answer on your first bullet point… we won’t ever see another .400 batting average. Not at the major league level at least. Hitting a round ball with a round bat, squarely, 4 out of every 10 times you go to bat is all but impossible these days. Ted Williams only managed it one season in his career. I honestly hope I’m wrong, but I just don’t see it happening.

    • I think it would be awesome to watch someone who could. What do you think of all the incredible pitching performances this year?

  2. Congrats, Andy, on your 400th post. I hope for many more for you. I’m loving seeing the excellent pitching this year. I think a guy on a mound, pitching a masterpiece, is so exciting to watch. And the fact that there’ve been three perfect games this year…unbelievable. And even more unbelievable is the grace and manner in which the player and umpire involved in the one that wasn’t handled themselves. Refreshing to see.
