Where Have I Been?

It has been a wild couple of months. Work has been insane. Life has been crazy. I’ve had a bunch of heavy thoughts that wouldn’t necessarily translate well to web blogging. That said, I think I am back. A few bullet point thoughts:

  • I’ve been focusing my reading time in the Bible. I made it through the Gospels and have been camped out in the book of Acts. The authority that the Apostles spoke with was intense. Guess walking with Christ and receiving the Holy Spirit at Pentacost would do that… We have no excuses for not doing the same.
    • Can you imagine the arguments and disputes that happened when Gentiles starting joining fellowship with the Jews? Blogs and Tweets must have been flying left and right during the time.
    • Stephen’s Sermon in Chapters 6-8. Wow.
  • Been really focusing on studying doctrine. I have grown a lot over the past few years. I’ve been blessed to be surrounded by some great teachers and friends who have helped me, but mostly… I believe that the Bible makes some of these things that we argue about pretty clear. I do think that we can have healthy discussion as we chew into the meat of the word.
  • Spiritual Warfare is real. The devil is real. He likes to cause chaos. However, I think we too often give the devil credit for our own stupidity.
  • I’ve had more time lately to focus on my personal communion with God. Balance… Margin… Sabbath… Those things are important. If you haven’t read Mad Church Disease, let me know and I’ll loan you my copy. Awesome Quotes:
    • “I had allowed spending time with God to be replaced by spending time doing things for God.”
    • “We cannot be dependent on ourselves and on God at the same time. When we consider the practice of rest unnecessary, we will also inevitably lose sight of the necessity of God.”
  • We have been doing a family Bible study and recently went through a study of Abraham and Jonah on Obedience. A huge takeaway: Delayed Obedience is Disobedience.
  • A few lighter bullet point thoughts:
    • Fast food service anywhere other than Atlanta is horrible.
    • Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief is a great book. The movie missed the mark a lot.
    • The Philadelphia airport is nasty.
    • My brother is about to explode. I’m happy for him. It has been a long time coming. That reminds me 12 of 12 is today. I’m Participating.
