If you look up Mindmap on wikipedia you get this definition:
A mind map is a diagram used to represent words, ideas, tasks, or other items linked to and arranged around a central key word or idea. Mind maps are used to generate, visualize, structure, and classify ideas, and as an aid to studying and organizing information, solving problems, making decisions, and writing
In my day to day job, I manage often complex and large scale website redesigns. Architectures and wire frames were and still are very important. The Getting Things Done method of Task Management was something that I was trying to implement. Out of that, I decided it might be a good name for the blog. Seeing as blog posts from me typically start at a key concept or idea that triggers offshoots of other ideas and concepts.
I’m not real sure that lines up with the blog today.
I’m even pondering the idea of changing the domain name of the blog. While yes, my name is my domain, I’m not real sure that is the best use for it. I’m not thinking of coming up with some fancy spelling of my name, or use some of the new domain suffixes that are available, although that is definitely an option, but as the blog continues to live and breathe on the web, perhaps it is time to rethink this as well.
When I check my analytics on the site, I’m consistently amazed at how many visitors hit the site because of some keyword search that includes the keyword “mindmap.” Now, there is such a high bounce rate that I usually ignore that incoming traffic. Perhaps that is opportunity lost that I should reach in some way and try to retain, but at the end of the day, I really am not bothered by bounces on my blog.
Perhaps I’m just bored and want to change it up, but this has been on my mind for a while.
So, if not mindmap… what?
hmmm… Maybe that is the answer to my question. I like ellipsis or ellipses and use them in all forms of communication. Maybe I should tie that in somehow.
