Bible in 90 Days | Proverbs 8 – 20: Day 47

God has some pretty high standards, doesn’t he? There are many that think the standards that he has defined are unfair or not relevant to today’s time, but the fact is, at the core of our conscious  he has placed his standard on our heart. We know it without having to be told it. The law that God gave was to teach us what we already knew to be true.

Similar to the law, Proverbs has a lot of practical wisdom, right? The funny thing is, at our core, we probably know all that Proverbs has to tell us. It warns us against leaving the straight and narrow path that God has created for us to follow. It calls us to be wise and know that God is able to lead us to him. We all fall short though and as soon as our foot gets off the path, we have to repent and come back to God’s way. In that, Proverbs acts as a reminder that the wise will remain in the center of the way that God has prepared for us.

Proverbs 8 – 9

I am so thankful that God loves those who love him. When we seek Him, we will find Him. He grants us inheritance. Before he made all of creation, he knew us. He creates a way of wisdom that will take us to Him, but for those who prefer folly, he allows them to find it.

Proverbs 10

The wise will receive commandments, but the fool will come to ruin.

Proverbs 11

Pride -> disgrace; humble -> wisdom.

Proverbs 12

In the path of righteousness is life. In its pathway, there is no death.

Proverbs 13

Whoever guards his mouth, preserves his life.

Proverbs 14

We insult God, when we ignore the needy.

Proverbs 15

A soft answer turns away wrath. A harsh anger stirs up anger. God’s eyes are everywhere.

Proverbs 16

Be established by God, and your work will succeed. There is a way that seems right to man, but to God yields death. Whoever is slow to anger is better than the mighty.

Proverbs 17

He who justifies the wicked and he who condemns the righteous are both an abomination to God.

Proverbs 18

The name of the Lord is a strong tower.

Proverbs 19

Better is a poor person who walks in his integrity, than one who is crooked in speech and is a fool. Many are the plans in the mind of man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.

Proverbs 20

The righteous who walks in his integrity, blessed are his children after him!
