Last day of Isaiah. Tough book to read. Glad to move into the much easier prophets 🙂
I’m reading the Bible through in 90 days. Join me. Click here for more information on the ESV Bible in 90 day plan that I am doing.
God talks about his covenant of peace (as given to Noah and all people at that time) will not be removed.
God calls all who thirst to Him. He says that if we seek the Lord then we will find Him. If we return to Him, he will have compassion on us. Our thoughts and ways are not His thoughts and ways.
Isaiah 56 – 57
The Lord gathers other peoples to Him. He does this partly because his people have been slow to come to him. Their idolatry has made them rebels in His eyes. He will bring others to praise Him, but he still is compassionate on His people.
God calls us to true Sabbath in Him. If we take away the yoke, the pointing of fingers and the speaking of wickedness, if we have poured ourselves out for the hungry and satisfied the desires of the afflicted, then shall your light rise in the darkness. Your gloom will be as noonday. God will then satisfy our desires.
It is our sins that separate us from Holy God.The Lord brings fury and salvation to the situation.
But Israel will become glory for God and God glory for it. The Lord will become everlasting Light.
Isaiah 61 – 62
Isaiah starts to talk of freedom that will come to the people of Israel once they put on righteousness and serve the Lord. Servants = Freedom. God will rejoice over them and they will rejoice over him.
All the things that God has done for the people of Israel (and us) needs praising. He rescued them. They turned on him, but they remembered him in old days. He was compassionate and redeemed them again.
No ear has heard. No eye has seen what God does for those who wait upon him. We’re all sinners, yet still our Father who molds us and makes us into his perfect design, saves us.
Judgement and Salvation is coming and with it will come new heavens and a new earth. All the chaos that exists today will be things of the past and forgotten.
Behold I (God) extend peace to her like a river. God knows our works and thoughts and the time is coming when he will gather all nations and tongues. And they will see his glory.
