Bible in 90 Days | Ezekiel 15 – 23 : Day 62

Continuing Ezekiel. I really don’t get the timeline in these prophet books. I really must try to read chronilogically sometime through the Bible. I tried once, but never finished it. That may have to be a goal for next time. Of course, in books like Ezekiel, they seem to go back and forth between judgment not yet happening and already taken place. I guess when God allows his prophets to see glimpses and visions, the see what he already has seen once and for all. He knows all and sees all and knows all time.

I’m reading the Bible through in 90 days. Join me. Click here for more information on the ESV Bible in 90 day plan that I am doing.

Ezekiel 15

Jerusalem has become a useless vine. It was useless when it was whole, but even now it is nothing even burned up. ouch

Ezekiel 16

God’s love was great with his people. He did everything for them, but they trusted in themselves. Their beauty. Their abilities. They whored themselves to other nations. Their wickedness was great. Their lust sickened their hearts. They were prostitutes in every since of the word. YET. The Lord will establish them eternally and everlasting.

Ezekiel 17

God/Ezekiel talks of an eagle that plants a vine but it grew towards another eagle. Likewise, Israel rebelled against Babylon with Egypt. But God will take a sprig of the vine and build/grow a cedar that ALL can come. He said he would do it… and He did.

Ezekiel 18

Here’s a call to repent and live vs die in sin.

Ezekiel 19 – 20

Here’s a poem/song that describes how Israel was once in Egypt, then free, then sent as slaves in Babylon again. They went from what God did not intend for them. He withheld judgment for a while, but eventually had to remind them of who He was by pouring out his wrath.

But he will restore israel again. He promises it.

Ezekiel 21

The lord pulls his sword from its sheath and it will not be sheathed again. It is sharpened and polished for slaughter.

Ezekiel 22 – 23

The way that Israel has minimized life and the not fought the senseless shedding of blood has drawn God’s wrath. The abominations and sinfulness will be judged. They will be cut down with swords.
