Day 70! The final day of reading in the Old Testament for at least 20 more days 🙂
Zechariah. He continued to urge the Israelites to endure the opposition they were encountering, and spoke of hope that was coming in a messiah. The prophecies and visions in this book are many. You have to think about the fact that God is about to be silent for 400 years and this may be one of the last words that the people hear before John the Baptist comes on the scene. Interesting.
Malachi. He turned up the heat a little in confronting the sinful actions of the people of Israel. He called them to total obedience and worship. I love chapter 3 and 4. Very hope filled and looking forward to Christ.
I’m reading the Bible through in 90 days. Join me. Click here for more information on the ESV Bible in 90 day plan that I am doing.
Zechariah pleas with his people to not be like their fathers. While they were told to failed to listen to prophets and failed to repent. Then he recounts a vision of a horseman who has returned to Jerusalem with mercy.

Zechariah 10 – 11
Restoration to Israel. Woe to those who desert the flock.
There is coming a day when all nations will war against Israel, and on that day salvation is near.
On that day, there shall be a fountain opened up for the house of David which will cleanse of all sin and uncleanness. Those will call upon God. They will call his name. He will answer them.
Then all nations will worship the Lord. The Lord will be king over the earth.
From the rising of the sun to its setting will God’s name be great among the nations. Offerings will be pure and true.
God rebukes the priests who have helped profane the temple and His name. The Covenant is profaned.
God’s messenger will prepare the way. God himself will draw near to judge. He will be a swift witness against sorcerers, adulterers, those who lie, those who oppress the widow, orphan and poor. He will witness against those who do not Fear God.
God does not Change!
If we return to Him… He will return to us.
We can test God with this.
Elijah the prophet will come before the great and awesome day that the Lord comes.
