What Difference Do it Make? by Ron Hall and Denver Moore
This is my last book review for 2009.
I actually finished this book a while back, but hadn’t figured out how to write this one up. I had heard great things about Same Kind of Different as Me, but had not actually read it before reading What Difference. Enough details are scattered through this book that relate to the first one. This book ends up being a follow up to the first and talks about all that has happened to Ron and Denver since the success of the first book.
The book is filled with themes of racial reconciliation, engaging the homeless, reconciling with an estranged father and practicing unconditional love. The reason it took me so long to actually pull together a review, was because wasn’t blown away by the book. I’ve read several books lately that were compiled primarily of blog posts and comments to the posts, and this book felt like one of those. A lot of people are saying that this one is a must read, but I just don’t get that. It isn’t a book that spells out the plan of salvation, but it does speak much about God and Faith. It is an easy read, but of all the books in 2009 that I read, not the most memorable.
Sorry to disappoint. Just felt that I need to be honest.
