Step Away from the Reader
Hey, those of you looking at my site in a RSS reader, why not click here and check out the site. I’ve been working on some changes to the site. I’m still working on it, but I’m liking a few of the new decisions that I am making.
- I got rid of Categories for now. I’m doing some soul searching regarding top level silos that all my posts should fall under. This is going to be tough, but better to do it now than later. I’m closing in on 100 posts. (HT: John Saddington)
- I added my last recent posts just to the right of my latest post and above the fold. This is more purposeful as I know that my site is being visited based on organic search results. Did you know that I’m on page 2 of google for “Snot Color?” I want any visitors who come to my site (whether their click was relevant to their search or not) to be able to see at a glimpse other topics that I have been writing about.
- Sub Bullet of Number 3 is that I have created a goal of decreasing my bounce rate for those visitors coming in via search engine to 40% by the end of the year. That will be in difficult. I obviously blog about topics that are interesting to me, but maybe not to the casual visitor. Right now it is 81.25 for visitors resulting in search.
- For those of you who do not know what bounce rate is, I’ll be explaining that in my next blog post. I’ve got a different spin on it of course.

- I am working on some pages that will not be blog posts. These will have continued development. One is Quotes/Verses that I’m Chewing on, the other is About Me. I have been working on a testimony page for quite a while. Coming soon… It may replace the About Me. You can find these posts along the top of the site.
- I’m working on my blogroll to make sure that folks that I’m following and reading on a regular basis are there. If you want to trade some link love, let me know.
- I’m working on a site banner. I need some help working with the wordpress hooks. Let me know if you can help me out.
